In honor of Father's Day coming up next weekend.  I'm giving away a copy of a Bible Study my dad wrote, Living by the Spirit.

Here's how to win:

Here are some of my own special memories with my dad.

There are so many more, but these are some highlights.  Love you, Daddy!

My Dad, unfortunately, was an alcoholic who got very mean when drunk so good memories are few. But one good memory that I have is sitting or laying on the edge of his bed and reading magazines which he was doing also. I remember reading magazines. He had Look, Life, The Saturday Evening Post, and Reader's Digest. I only did this on the one night of the week that he was sober which was mostly Mondays. I guess I hungered for his love and that is why I spent that time with him. After I was saved in 1978, I started praying for him, and my prayers were answered as he accepted the Lord in January of 1983, just a few days before he passed away. It was all recorded in the Bible that was given to him at the time. I am really looking forward to seeing both him and my mother in glory one day!

Whoa! Your dad wrote a book? He's super famous!

Um, I suppose that my favorite memories with my dad are when I would go to work with him when I was around preschool/kindergarten age. He used to drive a taxi cab in Chicago back then, and we would always stop at Dunkin' Donuts for some coffee for him and a doughnut for me (yum!); then, while he drove passengers around they would ask who I was and he would tell them I was his Mexican daughter, lol. :) He would always say that I got him extra tips!

Good idea Erin! I'm going to put this memory in Dad's card. :D

A good dad memory...my dad is a landscaper & during summer vacation he used to take my sister & I to the dump with him. We loved to go; I'm not sure why, but I suppose it's b/c that was the only special time we really spent with him. Sometimes he would take us to a little place called The Snack Shack for strawberry milkshakes or french fries on the way home - yum!

What a wonderful giveaway!

My Father (and Mother) lives with us and he does so many great things to help me. Several weeks ago, he installed a clothesline system on a pulley outside my laundry room window. It has made my life so much easier!

Blessings,
Mrs. White

Here's my second comment, because I am a follower! (smiles)

As we children were growing up, Dad often surprised us by taking us to the local ice cream shop. We rode in the back of the truck - when seat belts were not legalized! It was so much fun and such a treat!

I remember my dad last summer when he took a turn for the worst. He had been sick since 2001 but his health started to deteriorate quickly. He was afraid of dying alone and asked me to stay with him in the ICU a couple of nights. We had many talks that week in the wee hours of the morning. He had been angry with God and had turned away from him. He passed away on May 17th this year and I found out from his pastor that he had communiono and recommitted his life to Jesus about a month before he died. He told the pastor that I had stayed with him and talked about Jesus last summer and he couldn't bear to never see me again. Miss you Dad.

Hi Erin! What an awesome giveaway. I didn't know your dad wrote a book. Very cool!

My dad's first job when he moved to the states (from Puerto Rico) was to be a cook at a pizzeria. He got really good at throwing pizza dough in the air and catching it. We loved eating tons of left over pizza growing up. He included kids at school, at our sleepovers and even one time in my classroom in Colorado, to make their own mini pizzas. It was always lots of fun!

Here's my second memory since I'm a follower.:)

For our homecoming court in highschool, all of us senior girls were chosen to be a princess because there were only a few of us. The school voted for a queen from the senior princesses. While the other girls easily found an escort because they had boyfriends and such, I had a hard time finding one. (there was only one guy in my class and he was escorting some one else.) I wasn't sure if I wanted to be in this thing, but then the idea came up that my dad could be my escort. It worked out wonderfully and it was a great time! I remember him looking at me before we walked onto the center of the court and telling me that I looked beautiful.:)
