Happy Holidays!!!

I wanted to wish everyone a joyous holiday. I know you have all been sitting on pins and needles wondering what I would do this year. Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but I was very lazy. I had a few ideas, but just didn't want to take the time to do it. Can you believe it? So I baked a pan of brownies and just made them wonder. You should have been in the office this morning. Everyone was looking in the offices to see what I had done. When they saw the pan of brownies they became very suspicious. Phil was the only brave soul to try one. After lunch, they saw there were no adverse affects so they started eating them. I just sat there with a big smile and made them wonder.

Well, to celebrate this special day, I did find a few really good pranks that have been pulled in the past. Enjoy! And please share any pranks that you played or had played on you. To see my past pranks, check out this and this.

I would like to thank Josh Huang for the elaborate prank he played on me. It was very thoughtful of you and very good.

Thank you, Ma'am

So I hate to admit that I'm old enough to be called, Ma'am. I go to the store and all the people working say, "Thank you, Ma'am." Wow! Who ever thought that one word would just take away your youth.

As most of you know, there is another Aaron that works in the office. It can at times be confusing when someone asks to speak with Erin/Aaron. I often have people ask me about games in the summer because they were told to ask Aaron, but they thought of me. The kids around here have it down. They refer to me as the girl Erin and him as the boy Aaron. Well, I guess there is a new way to keep us straight. Yesterday, someone called and asked to speak to the young Aaron. I should have hung up! Yes, he is younger than me, but come on!! Am I not still young? Especially compared to the caller!

Okay, I guess I'm over it. I am 32 after all and need to start thinking and acting my age. I remember when my parents were this age and I thought they were soooo old. (Side Note: I'm sorry Mom and Dad. You still aren't old. I have a little more perspective now.)

I'm heading to my parents' tomorrow for an entire week! I can't wait! We are going to bake lots of cookies, watch lots of movies, and laugh lots and lots. I hope you all have a blessed Christmas just in case I don't post again before then.

This old maid is signing off.

Another Side Note: This post is meant in the spirit of humor/sarcasm. I know that I'm cool and hip and fun. I know that I am not an old maid or spinster. Just want to clarify this so I don't get a bunch of angry comments from old maids and spinsters saying how much they understand my plight in life. And please no comments from old maids or spinsters that are upset that I'm not upset with my lot in life. So now I have to apologize for using the words plight and lot in regard to my life. Those words do not fit. Amen - I'm done now.

Senior Pictures

I was sorting through some stuff and found some of my senior pictures. I thought I should share them with you. Remember that I was homeschooled, so they aren't the typical pictures.

Funny Jr. Girls Story

We have a set of twins that attend our class, Danielle and Deidre. They are absolutely identical, so we have a hard time telling them apart. Stacey and I got together and prayed for our girls this last weekend. When I prayed, I asked that the Lord would help me tell the girls apart. I don't want to see them as "the twins," but as individuals with individual needs. They came in late on Wednesday and lo and behold, they had glasses! And the glasses were different!

I told the class that we pray for each girl and what I had specifically prayed about the twins. I was excited that God had answered my prayer. Well, Deidre raised her hand and said, "So basically you blinded us." We all laughed so hard!!! We have so much fun in our class!

What a Great Day!

I'm sorry there won't be any pictures in this post. I was going to take my camera with me and forgot it. Sorry!

I finished printing The Beacon today (our camp newsletter), and had a group of seniors at church that helped me put it all together. It's quite the process! I print 3,700 newsletters, which is two pages printed front and back. The seniors help collate, fold and label. They then have to be counted and sorted for the bulk mailing. I print the labels in zip code order which cuts down on a lot of the sorting.

Anna came to help me today since she wasn't subbing. When we got to the church, I opened up the back of my Jeep and one of the crates full of papers came spilling out. Now, it had been raining and really windy. Anna immediately dove to the ground to sacrifice her body for The Beacon. As she laid on the ground half under my jeep with her legs and arms sprawled, I ran to retrieve the run aways. It was at this moment that I really regretted forgetting my camera. I'm sure you would appreciate the story much more with pictures. She would little by little lift up parts of her body, so I could scoop up the papers. We saved all the pages!!!! The amazing thing is that not one page fell on a wet part of the ground and the wind stopped blowing. God is so good.

We got it all put together in record time despite the spill out of the Jeep, a coffee spill on the table and dropping a stack of some already sorted (all done by me by the way)! Thanks so much to all that helped. It would have taken me a week to do it all myself.

I also had Aaron and Anna, and Shane and Lynnae over for supper tonight. It was a last minute thing and I didn't have enough food for everyone, so we combined all of our meals together. It was a great night of fellowship. We ended the night with a game of Shanghai.

Well, I'm off to my parents' for the weekend, but just wanted to say hi to everyone. Have a great weekend!

Happy Holidays!!!

I want to wish everyone a Happy Holiday!!!! Just to recap what I did last year, click here. Okay, now on to present day!!! (Just to warn you - I will be using a lot of exclamation points today! See I just can't help it!)

The story starts with my previous post requesting help from you, my faithful readers (all five or so of you). Amy from South Africa suggested this idea so I must first of all acknowledge her assistance. Thank you, Amy!!! My second acknowledgement must go to my chiropractor, Dr. Jeff Anderson. He loves to hear about my April Fool's "gifts" and asked me what my plans were. I told him Amy's idea of using poppers on chair rollers, but I had no idea where to get them. As it turns out, you can only get them in states where fireworks are legal and Iowa is not one of them. He just happened to have gotten a case of them in WI and said he would be happy to share. Thank you , Dr. Anderson!!!!!!!!!!

So here they are - the wonderful box of poppers.

I put them on the stopper of their drawers (they actually haven't found these yet). This is going to be the "gift that keeps on giving."

Here they are on the rollers of their chairs.

Now, let me introduce you to my partner in crime. Stacey is my friend, Jr. Girls co-teacher and now my April Fool's buddy. I didn't just want to keep the joy all at camp, so she met me at the church and we left "gifts" for our pastors as well.

I guess these photos might be a bit incriminating.

Stacey thought that our pastor's wife, Mary would like her desk decorated a bit. We thought what better to decorate with than T.P. Mary knew we were going to leave "gifts" for the pastors, so we knew she would know this was from us. She didn't work today, so I guess the other secretary was the one to receive the gift in her honor.

Mary called me this morning to tell me that Pastor called her to tell her that everything in his office popped this morning when he went in. (Just imagine my evil laugh...ahhhh, ahhhh, ahhhh.) He thinks it was all Stacey because of the note she left on Mary's desk. I'm sure he doesn't read my blog and Mary told him that she would never reveal her sources. I'm safe for now.

This year, I had several "gifts" left for me as well. When I arrived at my desk this morning, the desktop on my computer was upside down and my mouse had been tampered with. Try moving your mouse in the opposite direction than normal to try to fix everything. That was a good one. Thanks Shane.

When I went downstairs for lunch I noticed right away that something was a muck. (I heard that in a movie once and just love that phrase.) The handles on my refrigerator and freezer had been moved to the other side. They also switched a couple of my drawers. Thank you Dan, Shane and Aaron. (My mom taught me that it's rude not to thank people for gifts.) I hope this is a gift that will be fixed though. It will drive me crazy to have to open the doors from the other direction now.

So, how did you celebrate. Come on...don't be a dud. Get in the spirit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bulbous Boufat

Bekah said the last video was boring. Well, this one is the same thing, but I think it's better because it's real people with real expressions. Okay Bekah...what do you think now?

Paula's Profundities

I'm at my parents' this weekend. Since I don't have cable TV, I always catch up on the Food Network while I'm here. One of my favorites is Paul Deen. We have been watching episodes of Paula's Party all evening.

Side Note: When Bekah and I were in Savannah this past October, we were able to go to her restaurant, The Lady & Sons. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

Anyway, Paula uses the funniest sayings. I had to share a couple with you. My favorite from tonight was, "I'm sweating like a fat girl writing her first love letter." My dad's favorite is, "Butter my butt and call me a biscuit!" Another good one is, "This is so good, you'll smack your mama." Mom didn't like that one so much.

Oh boy, did we laugh.

Cute Story

At church tonight a friend was telling me that she is trying to train her three year old to sit through church. She is a reading a book that she said has been helpful. Before they came to church tonight, she sat Joyanna down and explained that we go to church to worship God and how important that is. She said, "Yes, Mommy" and off they went. Just as Pastor was beginning the message she declared to her mother that she was tired of worshipping. Aren't kids just precious?!?!
